Cold air intake system

A cold air intake system can help you increase the power of your car without punching a hole in your pocket. A cold air intake system literally lowers the temperature of the air that enters the engine. This improves the power efficiency of the engine that in turn improves overall car performance. The cold air intake system also helps with the appearance of the engine bay.

You can install a cold air intake system yourself it is so easy. Here are some steps that you may follow to install it in your car.

First off, know that there are many models of cold air intake systems and not all of them are compatible with any car. You will need to hunt a bit to find the right one. Just visit a knowledgeable auto parts supplier close to you and that should help you a lot. Some of the popular brands in the DIY category include AEM Cold Air Intake, K&N Intake, and Volant Air Intake. If you are a car enthusiast who is already in the habit of tinkering then you will have absolutely no trouble in installing a cold air intake system.

You being by removing the factory installed air intake tube from the throttle body and the air box on the fender. There should not be more than two clamps used for securing the rubber hose.

Undo the screws that attach the stock air box to the fender and lift it out.

It may be necessary to raise the car in order to reach the lower air intake. In some car models you may have to remove the muffler as well (mufflers are used to reduce air intake noise).

The tube that feeds cool air will have an air filter attached to it. This gets fixed to the fender. You will have to connect the tube into the engine compartment and fix it with a nut.

Once you have the lower pip fixed you will install the air filter. The filter will be up in the fender and protected. If you live in a place where it rains continuously then you may want to keep it in the engine compartment.

Use the urethane connector to attach the pipe to the throttle; one clamp goes on the pipe and the other on the throttle.

That is it. When you start the engine you will hear a more growling sound than earlier.
